Peregrtine Falcon and Golden Eagle Climbing Closures Lifted
As of July 15th, all peregrine falcon and golden eagle climbing closures have been lifted. There was a total of 15 peregrine falcon nests and 23 fledglings confirmed this year. Season highlights include:
- 7 new peregrine nests found, Yosemite record
- 1 new peregrine territory at Parkline Slab
- New cliff occupancy at BHOS Dome (Tenaya Canyon)
- Yosemite Point/Falls territory returned to their 1993 nest on Rhombus Wall
Thank you to the Yosemite Climbing Rangers, Law Enforcement and Protection, Fire and Aviation, volunteers, and the Yosemite community for your enthusiasm and work in helping to protect the park’s peregrine falcons. Check out our new Cliffside Raptor Dashboard that shows territories, nest sites, and closures (when they are active) of peregrines throughout the park. Happy climbing!
